pills generally helps but this might later on causes some side effects. Thus, it would be best to practice some methods or techniques like breathing, exercise and the likes. here is one that could help you and your friend out. http://www.stoppingpanicattack.com

Hey Meggie, It's good you're taking time to help a friend. Has she tried the panic away program, it's one the best ones out there right now. I used it. It worked great for me. Plus you get it free for 8 weeks.

Just help them get through it, provide comfort, and attempt to calm them down. I used to talk my ex out of them, she would start to have one, then calmly I would ask her to explain why she was in a panic. Eventually it got to the point where once she started to have one, she would call if i wasnt around to tell me what was happening and she would talk smoothly and calmly untill the anxiety went away. She was bi-polar, so it was easier to tell when she might have one, but as i said, calmly and rationaly offer a shoulder, and an ear, and walk them out of it.

That's great your trying to help her, I'm not sure about any professional advice, maybe give her a hug and give her some comforting words.
Oh yeah, and if u have a paper bag handy get her to breathe into it.
(Maybe get her to bring one along with her)

Hope your friend gets better.

Get them to breathe into a paper bag to regulate their breathing. It will slow down the fast heart rate.
